VALENTINO, RETROSPECTIVE – PAST/PRESENT/FUTURE

07.Aug - 07.Nov

Gallery of Modern Art
7 August – 7 November 2010
This exhibition of 100 garments will trace Valentino Garavani’s career from the 1959 opening of his fashion house in Rome to the present. The exhibition has been designed and realised by Les Arts Décoratifs, Paris, with the assistance of the Valentino fashion house. Valentino has dressed generations of successful and glamorous women, and this exhibition includes dresses worn by celebrities including Jackie Onassis and Julia Roberts. The exhibition has been organised in Australia by the Queensland Art Gallery and Art Exhibitions Australia, continuing a partnership that has presented numerous exhibitions over the years. ‘Valentino, Retrospective — Past/Present/Future’ will be complemented by a special exhibition for children, featuring work drawn from the Gallery’s own Collection, exploring the relationship between fashion and art. GoMA will be the only venue in Australia to host this exhibition.
