Texts & Textiles on show at the Ian Potter Museum of Art, University of Melbourne, from Saturday 17 October until 18 April 2010 displays rare Greek papyrus texts and Coptic textiles from Egypt, forming the basis of a dramatic exhibition that gives a fascinating insight into ancient lifestyles.

ANTILIA CARNIVAL 2009

THE WALLPAPER PROJECT

Wallpaper takes on a new dimension in The Wallpaper Project. No longer the province of grandma’s musty drawing room, wallpapers in this chic exhibition are contemporary art pieces that expose the latest designs of seven well-known Australian artists.

Artists who have participated include Rob MacHaffie, Anne Wallace (in collaboration with Aaron Hill), Lisa Radford, Simon Mee, Tiffany Shafran, Sadie Chandler and Megan Keating.

MONASH UNIVERSITY FACULTY OF ART & DESIGN GRADUAND STUDENT EXHIBITION

The creative works of more than 250 final year Design and Fine Arts undergraduate and honours students from Monash University's Faculty of Art & Design will feature in the annual Graduand Student Exhibition, which will be launched this Friday 20 November 2009.

Work includes interior architecture (interior design), industrial design (product design), visual communication (graphic design), multimedia and digital arts, sculpture, painting, ceramics, photomedia, printmedia and glass.

Opening night Friday 20 November 5 to 7 pm.

The exhibition will run from Saturday 21 November, 2009 to Thursday 3 December, 2009. Opening hours 9 am to 5 pm weekdays, Saturdays 10 am to 4 pm (Fine Arts only).

SINGAPORE DESIGN FESTIVAL 2009

Singapore Design Festival 2009 is a meeting place for designers, design thought leaders and design clients of the world to establish "Design 2050". It is inclusive in outlook, featuring prominent international and Singapore creative personalities and outstanding works at events including country presentations, conferences, exhibitions, workshops, open houses, product launches and award ceremonies. The 2009 Festival is expected to attract over 100,000 people participating in more than 100 activities island-wide.

THE PORTFOLIO SHOW FOR YOUNG DESIGNERS

The Portfolio Show for Young Designers presents the best collection of portfolios by young Singaporean or Singapore-based designers. It is presented as an exhibition across all design disciplines, presenting the progression and ambitions of Singapore design.

It aims to benchmark the standards of young designers in Singapore, inspire current and future design students towards excellence, and to communicate their potential to established designers and design clients. The show provides exposure for these young designers, who would otherwise have little or no such opportunity.

The Portfolio Show features work from the best graduating designers from the Class of 2009 and young design agencies with less than five years of practice.
