+ Monteiths – The Cider Comeback

Traditional pastimes, values and flavours come together in a bottle of crisp apple cider.

The economic downturn has brought about a return to many simple pleasures. Dinner parties, op shopping and knitting are all on the rise, along with a focus on quality and sustainability.

Following this shift in values, traditional cider is a refreshing alternative to sugary ready-to-drink beverages. New Zealand brewing icon, Monteiths, offers a re-invention of an old favourite in Crushed Apple Cider.

Authenticity, timing and locale are highly valued in the process. The cider is brewed from one hundred per cent New Zealand apple sources. The fruit comes predominantly from sun-ripened orchards in the Nelson province on the south island, near Greymouth where the brewery is located.

First crushed to retain natural flavours, the apple juice is the patiently fermented to deliver a quality cider – one of the first for the region. The crisp flavours delivered by this brewing process cannot be replicated and is one of the characteristics Monteiths is renowned for.

The brewing company believes that ‘Every beer tells a story’ and the moral of Montheiths Cider is that nothing replaces quality, natural ingredients and the importance of time spent taken bring flavours to full fruition.

Taking about three months to make, this cider is well worth the wait. Monteiths will soon be available both on tap and in bottles from select bars and outlets.
