Taking the European concept of an apartment-style accommodation experience, Three Rooms Sydney continues to bring in local design talent to create something unique.
The latest to join the ranks is Sarah Ellison. Set in the heart of Potts Point, Three Rooms Sydney is a curated experience set within an iconic heritage building. While international in concept, the execution is entirely local, with Sarah Ellison the latest to join the list of collaborators (after having already worked with Cult Design and MCM House).
The interiors are about delighting guests with high-end design, and homey decorative elements. Sarah Ellison’s design offers a tactile, warm and welcoming vibe, with an air of minimalism – something the brand is well-known for.
Sarah Ellison was inspired by the location, putting a twist on the Art Deco style that is peppered throughout Potts Point and exuded through the building’s shell.
Die-hard fans of the Australian furniture brand will recognise the chunky curves of her Arch Dining chairs, the Huggy armchair and the Muse sofa. In the bedrooms, the Yoko bed dominates with its eccentric frame, alongside the statuesque Halston with fine rattan and brass inlay. Elsewhere the finely detailed Alva armchairs offer additional spots to sit.
Plush velvet fabrics and leathers are offset by mirrored plinths (also by Sarah Ellison) and metal sculptures throughout. Black and white photography by Akila Berjaoui and art by Saxon Quinn adorns the walls. Feminine and decorative elements combine with an experimental flair, while the muted seaside tones give an overarching sense of cohesion.
