A new wave of innovation

Andy Grigor, the head of design at Caroma, shares insights into the innovations in the bathroom you may not even be aware of; and how an in-house, design-led approach creates a complete bathroom solution.

Bathrooms are a highly functional – and necessary – room in the house. But that doesn’t mean they need to be boring. Bathroom design has come a long way, and many of the best developments are hidden below the surface.

In this latest video, Habitus editor Aleesha Callahan speaks with Andy Grigor about the different prototyping and development that goes into every Caroma product, all with an in-house design team.

Bathrooms of all shapes and sizes are a passion for Australian brand Caroma. Whether refining the subtle curve of a free-standing bath or landing on the perfect thickness for a basin, Caroma’s iterative design approach – alongside local skills and manufacturing – means a sketch can be turned into reality.

Bathrooms are full of many moving parts and different elements that need to fit together. By designing across every piece of a bathroom, Caroma can deliver a holistic aesthetic, and resolve any challenges to ensure bathrooms are functional and beautiful.

As our bathrooms have become sleeker, streamlined and refined in aesthetics, Caroma has been perfecting the technology – and often the invisible things – to facilitate this kind of look and feel. For example, the Invisi Cistern system allows for a toilet suite to be built into the wall, with the corresponding flush plate matched to all manner of tastes.

Just as the design of our bathrooms is constantly evolving, Caroma is looking ahead to the future to anticipate how this vital room of the house might change.

We think you might like this story that provides tips on how to level up your bathroom design.
