Evolution of excellence with Elton Group: Eveneer Prefinished Timber Veneers

Expressing Elton Group’s constant pursuit of material perfection, Eveneer Prefinished Timber Veneer continues pushing the envelope with its unmatched fusion of beauty, outstanding performance, quality and unmatched consistency.

With natural form, elemental allure and inherent warmth, timber veneer has long been a beloved material in the world of design. However, working with wood comes with a unique set of challenges – the intricate process of selecting and matching grains can be arduous, and finding an expert polisher is becoming increasingly difficult. As such, achieving a flawless, high-quality finish in a timely and cost-effective way remains a significant hurdle – especially on large-scale projects.

Luckily, the Eveneer Prefinished Timber Veneer range by Elton Group offers an elegant and professional solution that combines the authenticity of sustainable natural timber veneer with unparalleled quality, consistency, and innovation. Established over 70 years ago in Melbourne, Elton Group has been a leading innovator in timber veneer surfaces – and the Eveneer Prefinished veneers epitomise the brand’s exceptional commitment to leading the industry.

From captivating new finishes and inspiring design collaborations to best practice, fire-rated formats, the range stands as an unparalleled choice for architects and designers who value efficiency, consistency, sustainability and quality. Here, we delve into the nuances that make these products so extraordinary, and explore some of Eveneer’s most recent innovations.

Meticulously tailored to the local context, this prefinished range features a factory-applied polyurethane polish with UV inhibitors engineered for Australia’s unique range of climates. Available in a curated selection of touch, wax, and groove finishes, these veneers not only accentuate the inherent beauty of natural timber but also ensure exceptional durability in any conditions.

“It’s the perfect look and feel,” enthuses Tim Clarke of Telha Clarke. “Eveneer Prefinished is the most consistent veneer on the market. We are blown away by the colour, grain, and finish. You can’t help but touch it.”

Tim’s appreciation for Eveneer’s artistry found its expression in the luxurious Stanhope project. The South Yarra development seamlessly blends classical architecture with Scandinavian minimalism, a vision brought to life through Eveneer’s Prefinished Alpi Xilo White Touch. The veneer’s gentle, quartered straight grain pattern, enhanced by a luminous hue, imparts both visual and tactile warmth while maintaining an air of cohesion, and elegant restraint.

The flawless appearance, which accentuates the sculptural refinement of the project, is a testament to Eveneer’s dedication to quality. “It’s all about the consistency with Eveneer,” Tim remarks. “There is no unexpected batching or finishing which is irregular. It’s a beautiful surface. It’s durable but still gives that tactility of warmth that is difficult to get into interiors at times.”

Tim’s stunning project exemplifies one of Eveneer’s most popular colour collections: the ALPI  Xilos,  boasting sophisticated shades of Sand, Grey, Black and White, created in collaboration with one of the masters of contemporary design Piero Lissoni, which elevate the surface from a mere finish to an integral aspect of any design. Now, Elton Group has further expanded the Eveneer Prefinished range with the addition of three new shades: Mandel, Roma, and Dawn. A visual response to the Australian context, the new colours are inspired by the quintessential tones and textures of the local landscape, further reinforcing the refined character of the palette. Each of these new colours is available with matching timber edging, ensuring a cohesive and refined look for joinery and panelling.

The innovation behind Eveneer Prefinished extends far beyond aesthetics. Reflecting the company’s commitment to provide the most cutting-edge solutions, the highly-coveted range is now available in the ALPIready format — a revolutionary all-timber veneer boasting an unmatched Group 1 fire rating.

Available in panels and sheets, Eveneer Prefinished ALPIready is engineered with two high-quality layers of timber veneer, crafted without the use of plastics or laminate backing. Responsibly sourced and manufactured with a pre-applied timber polish, it is designed to be readily used, and is the only all-timber veneer in the Australian market to meet this stringent fire safety standard. This unlocks new creative avenues for commercial environments, as designers can now seamlessly integrate the warmth and allure of natural timber while adhering to standards and regulations.

This excellent product has been developed in close collaboration with Elton Group’s Italian manufacturer, ALPI. Based in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna, ALPI’s legacy is defined by the pursuit of excellence, commitment to meticulous manufacturing tradition and responsible forestry practices. With their commitment to sustainable innovation and technical expertise in harvesting plantation timbers, ALPI creates recut veneers with carefully curated patterns and stunning shades, often replicating old-growth timbers that can no longer be harvested. Representing a genuine alignment of values, this partnership ensures that the sustainability profile of Eveneer’s Prefinished Timber Veneers flawlessly matches their premium quality.

With a constantly evolving collection of exceptional finishes, an outstanding environmental profile, and unmatched performance and fire safety ratings, the Eveneer Prefinished products are bound to elevate any residential or commercial interior, regardless of size. And whether it’s used as panelling or in joinery design, Eveneer Prefinished’s perfect fusion of form and function elevates this innovative surface well above the limitations of timber – and the traditional concept of a mere finish.
