The breadth and scope of Habitus has always been extraordinary. With how we live at heart of every issue, we have stepped it up with Guest Editor David Flack of Flack Studio shaking the ‘how’ and looking at new ways to make a house a home. With Vintage Modern as the issues theme, we look at the way iconic design has stayed with us, how daring pieces from the past can add the wow factor and how architecture and good design defy the pigeon hole of their era.

New shapes, familiar forms – Meet King Living’s latest additions

Blending solid and functional design with high-quality craftsmanship, the release of two new additions to King Living’s Heritage Collection shows us how to elevate our dining and living spaces.

When something is designed with such classic, sturdy forms – not to mention already highly popular – it’s a no-brainer to take that familiar design language and create new additions to the family.

It was exactly this mindset that has seen Australian furniture brand King Living introduce two new designs as part of the Heritage Collection – the Heritage Extension Oval Dining Table and a range of six Heritage Coffee Tables.

King Living Heritage Collection

With sumptuous soft curves, the Oval Dining Table offers a sophisticated option for smaller spaces, with its elegant, rounded corners and compact form. The coffee tables, available in round, oval and rectangular variations, bring a harmonious and timeless aesthetic to any living area.

At the heart of the Heritage Collection is the award-winning Heritage Extension Dining Table, which was recently honoured at the 2024 Good Design Awards. This accolade recognised its innovative SoftTouch Extension Technology®, a feature that means the table can expand with ease when hosting additional guests. The table transitions seamlessly from seating six, to ten guests, perfect for both intimate family dinners and larger gatherings. The Good Design Award jury praised the table’s functionality, noting that “This design excels in functionality and ease of use, making it a valuable addition to both formal and casual dining settings.”

Conceived with longevity in mind, the Heritage Collection showcases a commitment to durability and refined craftsmanship. The extension tables, both rectangular and oval, feature deep tabletops supported by sculpturally angled legs. It’s this familiar language of splayed legs that duplicates across each piece, exuding a balanced and timeless silhouette. An internal steel frame runs from the tabletop to the legs to ensure unmatched stability.

The Heritage Coffee Tables, a perfect complement to the dining range, are crafted with the same attention to detail and quality. Each table can be layered in different sizes to create a dynamic yet original effect. Whether in the rich tones of onyx black or the light hues of the newly released Natural Oak, the coffee tables serve as striking focal points in any room. The same deep tabletop design adds depth and presence, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the space.

The King Living in-house design studio expresses excitement about the new collection, stating: “Customers now have the opportunity to create a cohesive living space with the Heritage Dining and Coffee Tables.”

The Heritage Collection embodies the King Living philosophy of blending form and function, providing furniture that not only enhances the aesthetic of a home but also enriches the living experience.
