The breadth and scope of Habitus has always been extraordinary. With how we live at heart of every issue, we have stepped it up with Guest Editor David Flack of Flack Studio shaking the ‘how’ and looking at new ways to make a house a home. With Vintage Modern as the issues theme, we look at the way iconic design has stayed with us, how daring pieces from the past can add the wow factor and how architecture and good design defy the pigeon hole of their era.

Robert Gordon

In a celebration of Australian craftsmanship, Country Road has partnered with the iconic pottery brand, Robert Gordon, to introduce its first-ever ceramics range.

The exclusive collection, designed, sourced and produced in Victoria, emphasises local innovation and sustainability by utilising reclaimed glaze in its creations. Each piece in the collection is meticulously crafted by 12 skilled artisans at Robert Gordon’s Pakenham studio, using high-quality clay from the Bendigo region.

The reclaimed glaze, sourced from leftover samples and factory remnants, gives the ceramics a unique finish that cannot be replicated, making each piece one-of-a-kind. Robert Gordon’s ceramic engineer, Melissa Farell, spent three months developing the perfect green glaze, testing and refining various methods to achieve the distinctive tone that defines the range.

The collaboration includes a variety of organic and elegant pieces, ideal for summer table settings. The collection features Victoria Vase, Mug, Salad Bowl, Platter, Latte Cup and Dip Bowl.

“It’s been a dream of ours to one day work with Country Road and so we feel immense honour and privilege to be able to collaborate on a collection which is so unique, celebrating our shared passion for simplicity and timeless design,” says Hannah Gordon, Director at Robert Gordon Australia. We’ve loved sharing our pottery, our skills and people to this collaboration, the outcome perfectly captures the spirit between both brands.”

Ty Symonds, general manager at Country Road Home, adds: “We take great pride in the fact that this collection is crafted in Melbourne, Australia. Both brands have a long-standing tradition of excellence, and this range is no exception. The combination of Country Road’s design language with Robert Gordon’s expert pottery ensures a collection that stands out in both quality and aesthetic appeal.

“What excites me most about this range is the natural, ergonomic forms and the gorgeous green tones. Each piece feels so comfortable and organic in the hand. It’s a perfect blend of form and function, and we’re so proud it’s made in Australia using reclaimed glaze.”

As leaders in Australian ceramics, the Robert Gordon family has been producing pottery since 1945. Now under the leadership of siblings Kate, Hannah and Bobby Gordon, the brand continues to uphold its commitment to quality and craftsmanship across three generations. The limited-edition Victoria range will be available at select Country Road stores and online starting 30th September.
