Living in the Environment Issue

Issue 62 is the first issue of the year and always a great time to put our best foot forward. With Adam Goodrum, the loveliest man in design, as Guest Editor, we draw on his insights as a furniture designer, artist and educator to look at the makers shaping our design world. Sustainability has never been more important, and increasingly this is a consideration from the start with projects designed to address their immediate environment as well as the longevity of the planet. From the coldest winters to the most tropical of summers, addressing how we live in the environment is crucial to creating the perfect home.

Diamant in the Sky

Australia

You’ll feel completely at home in this Sydney penthouse
retreat, designed by Burley Katon Halliday.

City penthouse living may not be within reach for all of us,
but if you’re looking for somewhere to spend a well-deserved break, there
couldn’t be a better view than from the Penthouse Suite of Sydney’s beautiful
Diamant Hotel.

Sitting at the heart of Darlinghurst, Kings Cross and Potts
Point, the Burley Katon Halliday-designed apartment – with captivating views to
the harbour bridge, city skyline and along William Street – is more like a home
than a hotel suite.

The beautiful, fully-equipped open plan kitchen and the sun drenched living
areas with floor-to-ceiling windows offer world-class furnishings and finishes.
The large master bedroom comes complete with walk-in wardrobe, powder room and
luxury sunken spa bath, while two guest bedrooms with ensuites make this the
perfect place to entertain.

You can spend the day exploring Sydney’s treasures below and
at night enjoy the best restaurants and bars in Australia, before ascending to
your retreat high above the buzzing city. Two generous outdoor decks provide
the perfect place to gaze out at the city lights – stretched like a carpet
before you.

There’s also the option of staying in; with a butler service
available on request, full media room with surround sound and a selection of
fashion and design books, you can while away the hours on those rare rainy days
in Sydney.

Operating out of Sydney and New York, Burley Katon Halliday
is renowned for designing some of Australia’s most exclusive city hideaways –
from harbour side apartments, to modern restaurant interiors and the most
elegant hotels – and the majestic Diamant Penthouse is
no exception.

The Penthouse Suite has state-of-the art security and
private access and is available for short and long-term stays, allowing the
sophisticated world traveller to immerse themselves in the best Sydney has to
offer.
